Government becomes strict regarding monkeypox: 21 days monitoring of those who came in contact with the patient; First case found in Kerala yesterday
The central government has been on alert after the first case of monkeypox was reported in Kollam, Kerala, on Thursday. Considering the risk of infection, the Ministry of Health issued the necessary guidelines on Friday. This includes testing travelers arriving from abroad, monitoring and treating people who have been in contact with the patient.

1. Travelers returning from abroad will have to avoid contact with sick people.
2. They must avoid contact with live or dead wild animals and rats, squirrels, monkeys.
3. Travelers were advised not to eat wild animal meat and not to use creams, lotions and powders made from African animals.
4. Stay away from bedding and clothing that has come into contact with sick people or infected animals.
Who will be called a suspect patient?
The list of suspected patients will include those people who have traveled to countries affected by monkeypox in the last 21 days and have symptoms of the disease. Symptoms include a purulent rash on the body, high fever, headache, muscle aches, weakness and enlarged lymph nodes. The suspected patient can be of any age or gender.
Who will be called a potential patient?
A potential monkeypox patient may be a person who has been in contact with a suspected patient or has had contact with or physical contact with an infected patient. According to the government, such people will be monitored for 21 days after contact.
